Cabbage Cake
Today we are going to make a spicey snack out of Cabbage and that is Cabbage Cake.It is popularly known as Kobiche Bhanole in Maharashtra.
Its a spicey, tasty and light snack can be enjoyed at anytime hunger.
Lets look for the ingredients
Ingredients:
Cabbage (chopped roughly)- 4 cups
Chickpea flour - 2 cups
Carrom seeds - 1 tablespoon
Fennel seeds - 1 tablespoon
Turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon
Asafoetida powder - a pinch
Red chilly powder - 2 tablespoons or to taste
Garam masala powder - 1 tablespoon
Salt - to taste
Water-to requirement
Cooking Oil - for shallow frying.
Method :
In a mixing bowl, add chopped cabbage, salt and spices and combine together.Crumble gently.
Rest the mixture for 10 minutes.
After 10 minutes the cabbage will relive juices.Now add the chickpea flour little by little.
We have to make a smooth dough.
Now its time to cook.Heat a pan on medium gas flame.Add 2 tablespoons of oil in it.
Now take a small portion of the dough and pat it in the pan to a round shape.It should have thickness around 1/2 to 1 inches.Repeat the process untill all the dough /mixture is used.
Now cook the cake with a closed lid till one side is nicely golden.It may take 3 to 4 minutes.Check in between.Then turn it and cook it for another 2 to 3 minutes.
Check if the cake is cooked completely or not by poking knife or toothpick.If it gets out clean,it is the indication of the cake is cooked.
Switch off the gas and transfer the cake into a plate. Let it cool for 3 to 4 minutes. Then cut the pieces and serve!
